As the Chief Legal Officer (CLO) of Verada, a pioneering blockchain-based Web3 company, you will play a crucial role in helping the organization leverage the benefits of decentralized technologies while navigating the legal complexities associated with the industry by shaping the legal and regulatory framework of our operations in this rapidly evolving Web3 ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

• Compliance and Regulation: Stay up-to-date with the ever-changing blockchain and data governance regulations in the U.S. with eventual expansion into international law. Ensure that Verada complies with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. Coordinate with governing bodies, and external legal counsel as necessary.
  

• Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including partnership agreements, smart contracts, and licensing agreements. Manage legal documentation and ensure that contracts align with the company's goals and policies.
  

• Intellectual Property: Protect the company's intellectual property, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights. Monitor and address potential infringements and intellectual property disputes.
  

• Risk Management: Identify and mitigate legal risks associated with the company's operations, including but not limited to cybersecurity, data privacy, and liability. Develop risk management policies and procedures.
  

• Litigation and Dispute Resolution: Oversee and manage any legal disputes, including litigation, arbitration, or mediation, and work with external legal counsel when necessary.
  

• Team Management: Build and lead an effective legal team, providing mentorship, guidance, and support. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure legal alignment with the company's initiatives.

  
  

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active bar membership.

• Proven experience in the blockchain and cryptocurrency space with a deep understanding of Web3 technologies and their legal implications.

• Strong knowledge of domestic regulations related to blockchain and cryptocurrencies.

• Excellent negotiation and contract drafting skills.

• Experience in managing legal matters for technology companies or startups.

• Ability to adapt to rapidly evolving legal and regulatory environments.

• Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
